At Iceni, we think it’s important for everyone to know how we are spending their donations.
2018/19, it cost us a little over £1,000 to support one family for a year. The cost of placing one child into care is around £100,000.
Iceni is committed to ensuring that every £1 donated makes a real difference to the lives of children and families in Suffolk.
At a time when charities are in the spotlight for how they spend people’s money, we are keen to ensure that we are honest and open about how we attract and use donations.
We work hard to make sure we achieve as much as possible with the charity funds we receive. You’d be surprised by just how far your donations can go.
Stories DonateHow much do we spend on children and families?
Last year 90 pence in every pound was spent on our support for families, which equates to over £300,000. This is the core of our organisation and we work hard to ensure that we provide families with the best possible support.
The amount we spend directly on support for families is impacted by how much we need to spend to raise money. As we get very little statutory funding, we need to spend money on our fundraising in order to raise the remaining 90% of our income.

How cost effective are we?
In 2018/19 we spent £350,000 and supported 322 families in Suffolk. It cost us a little over £1,000 to support one family for a year.
Iceni provides a service which saves the NHS, local authorities and wider society far more than our services cost since our support can help families to avoid reaching a breaking point.
How will my donation help?
We work to help children and families to thrive and our work is wide and varied. Here are some examples of the sorts of things your money could help to pay for:
£5 Could help pay for the day expenses of a volunteer helper.
£10 – Could help pay for a play session for a child affected by domestic abuse.
£50 – Helps pay for a family session of Video Interactive Guidance (VIG).
£150 – Helps fund ten families pay for transport costs to Iceni each week.
£300 – Will pay for childcare costs (average £30 per session).
£500 – Pays for six weeks of our Freedom Programme.
£1,000 – Will pay for a place on our perpetrator programme.
£10,000 – Will pay for eight families to complete our Strengthening Family Programme.
